The Ducati 175 Gran Sport, born from the revered lines of the Taglioni-designed 98cc engine, was the company’s first production model to feature the iconic single overhead cam, bevel driven powerplant.
Launched at the 1956 Milan show, this diminutive yet potent motorcycle offered a range of models including S Sport, T Turismo, Americano, Formula 3 and Motocross. But it was the Sport variant that stole the show, capable of reaching an astonishing 84mph while achieving fuel economy of nearly 100mpg.
With its whip-free chassis and dry weight of just 103kg, coupled with large full aluminium brake hubs, the 175 Gran Sport delivered exceptional handling and braking performance, outshining its competitors in every regard.
