BMW has unleashed a new off-road oriented sibling to its single-cylinder G650GS, dubbed the G650GS Serto.
The Serto is built for the wilderness, with a name that translates to “wilderness” in Portuguese. This rugged new bike boasts the same 652cc liquid-cooled and counter-balanced single-cylinder engine as the standard G650GS, producing a respectable 48 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 44 ft-lbs of torque at 5000 rpm.
The chassis and accessories have been tweaked to provide more off-road capability without sacrificing on-road comfort. Longer travel springs and wire-spoke wheels are just the beginning, with a host of upgrades that set the Serto apart from its more road-focused sibling. The 41mm diameter forks now travel up to 8.3 inches, while the rear swingarm boasts the same generous clearance. Tubed tires and a taller seat height complete the off-road package, with a commanding riding position that’s perfect for tackling the toughest trails.
The Serto’s engine and components are adorned with a striking Aura white and Arroyo blue color scheme, while a range of off-road ready accessories come standard, including an aluminum engine guard, high windscreen, and hand protectors.
