Its 500cc OHC across-the-frame four claims a modest 50 horsepower, but its delivery is so linear that it often feels underwhelming. Acceleration is smooth, but sustained speed above 80mph becomes a chore, with the motor working hard to maintain pace.
The engine’s performance is marred by frequent valve adjustments and secondary vibrations transmitted through the seat, tank, and controls. Carburation issues also plague the Benelli, with hesitant throttle response and stuck slides causing hunting between 1000-5000 revs.
